Welcome to Cambridge Ladies’ Dining Society, new on Substack. In the coming months I’ll be writing about women who settled in Cambridge from the 1870s to the 1950s, as well as about new books, old books and the lives of writers I love.
My special focus will be on ‘The Cambridge Ladies’ Dining Society’, an intellectual group of twelve of Cambridge University’s first women students, lecturers and university wives that met from 1890-1914. I’ve been researching these women for a while and can’t wait to tell you about them.
I’ll also be embarking on some new writing adventures, including ‘A Cambridge Notebook’, my regular newsletter with book news, art views and links. Hoping you might join me, it would be lovely to have your company.
