Ann, love the look of your page and the new publication name. I just hope us blokes are still invited to tea. All the best, Matthew

Thank you, Matthew, and you are very much invited to tea! It's funny as although it refers to a historic Cambridge club of just twelve women, I see them very much as representing others that both you and I write about - men and women!

Sounds great. I have changed the name of my publication twice and I think it is a good move, especially when we start to know ourselves and our writing better. It is hard to get it right at first unless someone brings an existing publication and audience with them.

I admired the thought that went into your publication's name change. Beyond the Bookshelf immediately seemed so right, but as you say, it's a process of paying attention to where your writing takes you. All part of the Substack adventure.

It sounds like a perfect salon...

Yes, doesn't it? I suspect literary salons are being revived these days, hope I get invited to join one sometime. Thanks June!

Thank you Elin, I couldn't resist! Shame I can't credit the artist as it's from the 1890s - maybe I'll find their name out one day.

Ann, your thoughtfully curated and imaginatively presented site is the FIRST substack publication I read, always with interest and delight.

While substack has grown and developed wonderfully, with hundreds of options to satisfy any interest, yours stands out. I always learn something new, and even if I’m familiar with the subject under discussion, you offer new insight and thought for the reader. Thank you!

Thank you so much, I feel very honoured to have you as a reader! Gosh, how lovely to hear that you find my fairly niche research worth reading, particularly as you must have so much specialist knowledge yourself, James. You have made my day.

I love the new title and already can’t remember the old one.

Perfect comment, Rona, and thank you. I've forgotten it myself. Is this what brain-washing feels like, or just old age?

That's really nice of you, Nancy, thank you. Decided to embrace the quirkiness.

I love what you’re doing, and you’ve inspired me, for which I thank you . (Now I’m a little afraid to use the exclamation point, which I fear I use “too much” 😆.)

Oh, now I am very curious Erika. Haha, it's funny as I use a lot of ! too. But cycles must have been so exciting back then, if a tiny bit scary too.

Somewhere in the back of my mind I remember reading about a ladies' dining society at Cambridge - it must have been one of your posts, Ann! So I'm looking forward to seeing the new direction you are taking...

Many thanks for your encouragement, Jodi! I've written a few things about them in the past, and I didn't want to let them go... they embody a spirit that greatly appeals to me.

Thanks Laura, same to you - sometimes I worry about what will come next, but I feel as if I'm finding my Substack path.

Certainly reads that way! I know what you mean about what next but that somehow feels OK on here...

Yes - it's fun to go with the creative flow - Substack does feel unique in that way.

Ha, brilliant, Jill - you know, I would like to write about a little-known food writer, but I don't want to give the wrong impression... it's in the oven on a low heat for now!

You have prompted me to sort out my sections (wahh). Love the new look! X

Thank you, Grace! It's funny, having sections did sort of clarify things for me about my content - and I tried not to fret that some posts could be in more than one section. X

Welcome to the new name though I don't like when people change names! hahahahahha Many do so on Substack and I hope this gives you and readers a clear direction and anything else you need.
